Christina recently hosted a Simple Things gathering where readers listed their favourite simple things. I'm arriving late to the event - ah, well. Here are a few of my favourite simple things:
- The warm golden light of the late afternoon.
- The Morning Glory that is currently winding its way around an old rocking chair I have on my balcony.
- The flower stands on the sidewalks of New York.
- Creating my own personal radio stations through www.pandora.com (it's free!)
- Painting in my little art room. A new flock of winged messengers are on their way. See "susanna's winged messengers" in my side category to find out what that is about.
- Thinking of the encaustic painting I will work on next.
- The book I am reading right now - written with a naughty sense of humour.
- This book which is on my wishlist. So gorgeous! So inspiring. It will be mine!
- Homemade iced tea, unsweetened, then with a pinch of raw sugar.
- Finding my cat fast asleep, upside down on his back, legs spread out, enjoying the breeze coming through a window. Such a boy!
- Phone calls and emails that have me smiling (thanks, M.) and laughing out loud. (You rock, Auntie Ruth)
- Emailing an artist who I've admired...and then being invited to her house for a lesson (more on that later...mentally cartwheeling whenever I think about it. Hurray!).
- The scent and sound of a campfire. The firelight reflected on the faces of loved ones.
- Fireflies floating, twinkling in the long grass at dusk. Magical!
- A full moon in a clear sky, an bright invitation to dreaming and other pleasurable pursuits.
You are welcome to join the rest of us gathering over at Christina's place. Tell us what your simple things are.
