Presenting a new painting on plaster experiment. This particular technique involves painting on various layers of plaster of Paris - something I learned in Stephanie Lee and Judy Wise's online Plaster Studio course.
This has been a great summer for creating and I'm having fun with this new-to-me art medium. So much so that I recently bought a miter box and saw and will start making substrates for new paintings in the next few days.
One of the best side effects of creating on a regular basis is that ideas for future work are appearing in daydreams, in night dreams, in a sudden thought while thinking of a place or of someone in particular. The idea for this painting came from summer fruit and vegetables, the farmer's market, the cardboard boxes used to transport fruit to the farmer's market, the logos printed along the side of those boxes... Once I seal the surface, I think I'll hang Fruit Salad up in my kitchen.
