Happy Memorial Day to my family and friends living in the U.S.! I hope you are all having a fun and relaxing holiday weekend. It's been absolutely beautiful here in N.J. Blue skies and warm weather - perfect for pouring a tall glass of iced tea and painting on the balcony.
I recently began a new encaustic painting based on photos of river grass that I took last summer along with a b&w portrait of my sister, M. I'm feeling confident about painting the river grass with encaustics but the portrait, well...I'm not sure how to best tackle it. Any suggestions? I'll be referencing a Gainsborough portrait for the skin tones. We'll see what happens. In any case, it'll be a good learning experience!
This morning, I also drew two lucky winners for two copies of Elizabeth Wix's terrific book of poetry, New Roof in October. Congratulations, Isabel and Debi! I'll be sending you both the books this week.
